MP3 & OTHER MUSIC FILES USED IN STRINGS CONCERTS
- Appalachian Sunrise by Doris Gazda (KJOS Online).
- Two slightly different arrangements of Christmas Joy and A Chanukah Festival:
- Celebrate the holiday season with this fresh medley of Christmas favorites. We open with a majestic treatment of "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing" and gently segue into a lovely modal treatment of the medieval carol "O Come, O come Emmanuel." A fully scored rendition of "Angels We Heard on High" closes out this wonderful arrangement. Correlated with Yamaha Band Student, Book 1, page 26.

- Using three popular carols ("Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and "Angels We Have Heard on High"), John O'Reilly has fashioned a great sounding holiday arrangement that is also an excellent teaching piece. With very simple use of notes, this one will allow your students to concentrate on learing hooked bowings, dotted rhythms and slurs. Just the right level for your December holiday concert.

- Familiar songs of the Chanukah season are skillfully presented in this great arrangement for young strings by John O'Reilly. Ideal for first-or second-year string orchestras, this selection is correlated with Strictly Strings, Book 1, page 30.

- Edmund Siennicki offers this special arrangement of four children's carols: 'O Christmas Tree,' 'O Come Little Children,' 'Joy to the World' and 'Jolly Old St. Nicholas.' You'll find it remarkably playable and full-sounding by your elementary group. Rhythms are simple (dotted rhythms are changed to eighth notes) and first position finger patterns (H2 & L2) are the rule throughout. Another gem for the holiday season. I do not believe this is the exact same arrangement as we have.
