Quote from YouTube: "Yo-Yo Ma with Daniel Barenboim and the Chicago SO in this performance from 1997. This concerto will forever be associated with Jaqueline du Pre', but YYM gives a performance that is beyond breathtaking. It is fitting that Barenboim is the conductor; I'm sure he feels this concerto is still in very good hands."An Interview with Jaqueline du Pre'
Remembering Jacqueline du Pre
Remembering Jacqueline du Pre consists partly of material that has been seen before, but is here presented in a new context for two reasons: it was made first to celebrate what would have been her fiftieth birthday on 26 January 1995 and, second to raise money for the Jacqueline du Pre Memorial building on the grounds of St. Hilda's College, Oxford. Film made by Christopher Nupen.
Additional Comment from Webmaster: Our former Strings Director, Teddi Swope, used to tell us repeatedly "Play with Energy...PLAY WITH ENERGY..." Well, Yo Yo Ma certainly plays with energy as did Jaqueline du Pre'.
Sorry, I could not pass this one...
YouTube Quote: "This is a pretty amazing video of Ethan Winer playing 37 separate cello parts to create one song. He even plays the percussion parts on his cello. It was recorded on 23 tracks using 37 plug-in effects. He spent hundreds of hours on this project so its worth a listen." Amazing Video of a Song Composed Entirely of 37 Cello Parts
